Lisse, the heart of the bulb-growing area (de Bollenstreek), is world famous for the Keukenhof flower gardens and the surrounding flower fields. For this reason most visitors come to Lisse during spring. But did you know it's also the place to be for flower lovers during summer? Check out our favourite things to do in Lisse in summer.
Magical Dahlia Gardens at Keukenhof Castle
While the Keukenhof is closed during summer, Keukenhof Castle isn't! The dahlia gardens next to the castle are just magical. Around 150 different types of dahlias have been planted here (and many other summer flowers). Imagine yourself in this fairy tale set, wandering through the dahlia gardens with Keukenhof Castle in the background...
The dahlia gardens can be visited free of charge and are best to visit from mid August to mid October. Parking is also free!
